Initially, the cooperation agreement comprises an existing project, NF1, for the production of cylinder heads and crankcases valued at 25 million euro, and an additional, new project, GS43/44, also for the production of cylinder heads and crankcases, valued at 45 million euro. "This cooperation agreement with SAIC Motor is not merely another high point in the relationship with SAIC Motor. It also reflects how satisfied our Chinese partners are with our machines, the technical support and the after sales services," explains Supervisory Board Chairman Christian Grob, as the contract was signed in Shanghai.
The agreement was signed during a formal ceremony at CIIE, to which seventeen companies, including two German companies and GROB as the only machine manufacturer, were invited. This signing ceremony was attended by three hundred guests, including high-ranking representatives from the worlds of politics and industry, and was broadcast on Chinese television.
SAIC Motor was established in 1978 and is headquartered in Shanghai. With its important joint ventures, including with Volkswagen and General Motors, SAIC Motor is a long-standing and important customer of GROB in China.
