Mindelheim/Stuttgart - To secure its industrial production of future battery generations, Mercedes-Benz has entered into cooperation with GROB-WERKE, focusing on joint development and the establishment of highly efficient battery production facilities for the global battery production network. This includes both battery module and battery pack assembly.
With this cooperation, Mercedes-Benz is securing GROB's support, both in the expansion of its battery production capacity and in the development of expertise in the area of innovative plant technology. GROB production systems are already used today in the Mercedes-Benz battery plants. "Together with Mercedes-Benz, we will design the development and construction of the highly specialized production facilities in close coordination and in the spirit of 'Design for Manufacturing'," said GROB Chairman of the Board, German Wankmiller. And he continues: "The cooperation is also a logical continuation of a long-standing collaboration with Mercedes-Benz and underlines the strong partnership that has already existed for years. Now also in the field of innovative plant concepts for battery modules & packs."
The cooperation is aimed at the system technology of future generations of Mercedes-Benz battery systems, which will be used in Mercedes-EQ vehicles from 2025. It also underscores once again the correctness of GROB's decision to make extensive investments in the area of electromobility and thus to largely realign the company. Today, with its modular, flexible and scalable solutions for the electric powertrain, GROB offers a holistic concept to almost all major automotive manufacturers and within a very short time has become the global technology market leader in the area of complete production and assembly lines for e-drive components.
