Born in 1926 in Munich, he took over his father's machine factory in 1952 and in doing so assumed entrepreneurial responsibility at an early stage. He did not relinquish this responsibility until he died. Even into his old age, he continuously encouraged his employees to strive towards the fine-tuning of products and processes.
Under the guidance of Dr. h.c. Burkhart Grob, GROB-WERKE achieved unprecedented growth, especially in recent years. He set the course for this phase very early on. First at the Munich site, and then from 1968 in Mindelheim. Over the years, GROB-WERKE developed to become one of the world's leading manufacturers of production lines for the automotive and component supplier industry in the powertrain segment, and now leads the market in the engine/transmission machining segment. For decades now, the company has been able to count almost all major international car makers at its customers. The global GROB Group, comprising four production sites, service centers and sales branches in numerous countries, has 5,300 employees. In the 2016 fiscal year ending in February, the company achieved an output topping 1 billion euro and posted incoming orders worth over 1.1 billion euro.
